Okay, so 3 days ago I got a new alienware laptop, runs everything flawlessly. I downloaded minecraft onto my new computer and it ran beautifully at a constant ~100 fps at far render distance. I noticed at about 3-5 minute in, it be can to start freezing to the point where it was unplayable. Restarting it seemed to be the only solution. After I restarted it, it did the same thing. Thinking this was a memory problem, I downloaded the magic launcher for minecraft to allocate more memory. I allocated 1250Mb, more than enough for minecraft. Same problem. I am getting this problem not only on single player but multiplayer as well. Not sure what's wrong. I tried out 1.6.1 and I was getting the same problem. I am thinking optifine might help. If you have any ideas about what might be wrong, please help! thank you

Given its Alienware, I can hold a highly straight face and smile and say its probably overheating.
To test this however, you need to get a temperature monitoring program and have it open and play the game till it gets lagging. When it gets laggy then do this.
Take a screenshot using Snipping Tool of HWmonitor window and upload that to imgur.
Optional but helpful here.
In the HWMonitor window. Go up to File and click Save Monitoring Data and then save that text file on desktop somewhere.
Then for best bet is to go to www.pastebin.com and copy and paste the information from the text document into pastebin, and you can set the paste private and to delete after a week at most.
