Before you start telling me to get a new computer and what-not, I think this is not about the computer specs that is causing this 1.6 lag problems.
Before 1.6, I've been getting 60-90 fps easy with i3 16G computer. But now, in 1.6.1 release with the new launcher, I've been getting 6-18 fps:(
I've noticed that many of my close friends do not experience this problem, and I have a better computer spec than them, so the chances are, it's not Mojang's problem.
Please help me out at this.
-Latest java was installed. -allocated more memory. -defragged my Drive. -rebooted numerous times. -removed .minecraft and downloaded again. -got the latest minecraft launcher for 1.6.1. -installed 'Optifine'. -PLEASE LEAVE SUGGESTIONS!
You said 1.6 I don't believe optifine is updated to that version. Some people get a performance increase with optifine. I actually get better performance without it. Have you tried without it?

Windows 7.
8gig ram
64bit java
i5 2.8ghz cpu
Intel HD 3000 graphics built in.
With minecraft 1.5 my frame rate sits around 40, with 1.6 it sits around 20 (which makes me feel dizzy)
Identical settings inside minecraft. (And I"ve tried adjusting them all too)
Yeah I highly doubt it is your specs. What operating system are you using? Also is it 64 bit or 32 bit? Have you tried monitoring the process via task manager? Maybe it is an issue with your hard drive bottlenecked. Sorry for all the questions

Another thing to keep note on is if 1.5 worked and you have problems with 1.6. Then you may need to wait for an update. There is likely a bug causing the problem. I usually wait at least a month to update. Takes longer if my mods are outdated.
The forum has been inundated with threads about lag all day long, and it seems that it's an issue with laptops with on board graphics cards, none of the fixes recommended by people work.
Yes, Ive already wrote a bug report on Mojira but there may not be a way to fix it without gimping the launcher features. It stems from the new launcher launching a separate process to run the game instead of running it in the same process. Intel driver apparently fail to recognize it as a game now.
I have a 660ti and on one particular server on 1.5.2 I got 900+ fps.
Tried, on 1.5.2, but with the NEW launcher and got 75fps. I checked the video settings, no problems there.
This is not a game or hardware problem, it's the launcher.
This might be a bit off-topic here, but how the hell do people even get 900fps+ or some insane frame rate like that? As far as I know the human eye can only see about 30-60fps at most, so having 900fps is a bit of a vast overkill as you wouldn't even be able to see about 800 of that really!
Plus, if you are going from '900' down to only having 75fps, then you are still far better off than everyone having this frame rate performance issue! Try going from a stable 30-60fps at best, down to a more sluggish 10 or less fps to see a noticeable difference in gameplay like most of us are experiencing.
I know you can't tell the difference, nor the difference between 900 and 75 fps, but I was just pointing out that this new launcher really is causing insane lag, I can't imagine what it must be like on other machines.
Kins98 can back me up on the 900fps thing btw
I'm on servers when I get these speeds, and obviously you get better performance on servers than SSP.... It stayed pretty constant at 800-900fps.
Yeah it seems to be throwing all sorts of issues up for everyone, although with it being a new launcher and in 'release' version now too, these issues shouldn't still persist really!
I can't say I've ever seen or heard of servers having massively high fps such as 900+ before, even the MindCrack guys on YouTube, I've never seen any of their frame rates as high as that and they must be running on pretty high-end servers haha! I think I've seen over 100fps or above 150+ before on some of those guys videos at times going by the frame rate shown, but yeah I could understand how dedicated servers would give frame rate and performance increases over just playing on your own system
Haha yeah I guess. I think with like over 6000 server slots and multiple minigames he probably has some very high end server hosting
Yeah I could see that HyPixel would have these serves setup in order to handle massive loads of performance strain on the servers, CPU, GPU, etc, and in order to hold thousands of people between them all running simultaneously too!
Btw, what you said about being able to 'afford' a high-end gaming rig/setup, imagine how much HyPixel's server hosting must cost... O_O
Haha yeah.... That must be very expensive.....
When I said that I was just trying to make a point ;)But then again he has I think 6200 slots, and it is very popular. With this VIP setup stuff and server store, he probably gets more than enough income to cover it

Curse PremiumNo. What this means is that I can actually afford a top/very high end graphics card.
I logged on, left the F3 mode running, and played the minigames on Hypixel's server. Such as Bow Spleef, Blitz Survival Games and The Walls.
Not quite SkyBlock.
Now, go back to your little hole and try and recognise where you are not needed/wanted.
