[1.6.1] Minecraft closing after I load up a world?

Ok, so I got the Minecraft 1.6.1 Launcher earlier today and it worked! Later when I went to load up a world, it would say "Java has stopped working correctly" and then it closes my game. This is really annoying. So, does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

(Also, I use a Windows 8 Laptop)

I have and it works fine for about 2 seconds, and then it says Java has stopped working and then closes my game

Didn't work... I know I'm not the only one with this problem, because I heard other people having this issue and they don't know how to fix it either...
