New Launcher Problem Can't Play

I'm running mac 10.5.8 leopard with java 6 and the new launcher for 1.6 won't install. I get this error message:

Client> Invalid memory access of location 0x0 rip=0x0
Client>
Game ended with bad state (exit code 139)

Any ideas on what I should do? Any help would be appreciated.

Minecraft 1.6 is not supported on Mac OS X 10.5 anymore. Please update to Mac OS X 10.6 or later.

Sadly, I'm not able to update my os at this time. Is there a way I could redownload the 1.5.2 version of minecraft?
