My computer is too old to support the newer version of the minecraft launcher and therefore Minecraft 1.6, but I could still use the previous launcher and Minecraft 1.5.2, if I hadn't deleted it. I need to download the jar file for the previous launcher. Can someone help me retrieve the file?
If the new launcher doesn't work, make sure you downloaded the correct platform from the website. If that doesn't work, try letting the launcher load up before you go nuts with the game.
I know why it doesn't work: Because my computer is so old it won't support the newer versions of Java, which is required to start the launcher. I already tried minecraftLauncher.jar and the Mac launcher (and I'm pretty sure my computer's a Mac), and it shows up a dialogue. The jar file says that it's trying to run the file on the wrong version, and the Mac launcher says my computer has a PowerPC processor and I need an Intel dual core processor. (in other words, it is not supported on this architecture)
Dear lord, that's old. Fine, here (mods if this is against the rules just remove this post): https://www.dropbox....b/Minecraft.exe
Edit: Windows only, don't have .jar version. Sorry. :/
You really should look into getting something new though...
They don't want you to give out the files that the launcher downloads after you've logged in, because If you do, the person you share it with will be able to play it without paying.
Danthonywalker, thank you. You are a god/goddess ;w; I been trying to convert back to old launcher for as long as the new ones been out.. thank you so much. ;w;
I have a copy of the Minecraft 1.5 launcher jar file on a laptop that's just as old as the computer I'm describing. The power cord broke for it before I even bought Minecraft (but was able to download the launcher) and I wasn't able to get it replaced but I did fix it today and now I'm playing Minecraft again! From now on, I will save every version of the launcher jar file they release.
