As soon as I got home today I followed the instructions to download the new Minecraft launcher. I opened the new launcher, clicked on "Play", and everything seemed to load just fine. I went to the list of Single Player worlds and selected my creative world. And it says "Loading world" but doesn't seem to be loading anything :/
Does anyone know why this isn't working? I'm running it on a Windows computer, and as far as I know everything is up-to-date. It also won't let me log into my server (though the server log is registering that my account is trying to log in, but it times out). Please help, I really want to play on the new update c: Thanks!

I have the same problem and I can sort of fix it.
What I did was I got the launcher up and then I turned my Internet connection off and it worked. sort of. the problem is I couldn't find a single horse and when I tried to spawn one with a spawn egg, the horse popped about but froze my game. every thing else but the horses worked fine thou.
Yeah. Good to know I am not the only person with problems. ^^; The game just doesn't give me any sounds but the problem isn't Minecraft or the new launcher. Just Minecraft audio wise doesn't seem to support or like 2.9.0 lwjgl(Or it could be the other way around).
Indeed. It's upsetting not to be able to play, though (especially because on some other help threads I posted on other sites, people aren't bothering to help and are simply telling me how great the game is working for them -_-). I've never had problems with an update before, so hopefully this can be fixed soon.
Guys, I solved it! Well, my friend did, actually. What you need to do is delete all your Minecraft save data (open hidden files and go into your .minecraft folder--you can save your worlds by copying the "saves" folder to somewhere else before deleting everything, and then copying it back in) and then launch it again. And it works for servers and files alike. A big round of applause to my friend Thanks to her you'll be riding those horses in no time.
