Alright, so today 1.6 came out and you have to get the new launcher, and now Minecraft doesn't work on any of my computers because they are old. And I know what you're thinking, "Oh, it's just another noob with an old computer who is complaining. He should just get another, newer computer." Well guess what? I don't exactly feel like paying for another $1,000 computer just so I can play Minecraft.
I'm sure there are a lot of other people who are just as bummed as I am about this, and this reminds me of an experience I had with an old game I used to play, Runescape. It told me ahead of time that with the verson of Java I had, I would not be able to play in a while because the version would no longer be supported. So I just stopped playing, assuming there wouldn't be any point in playing the game if I'm just going to be kicked off. So for some reason one day I felt like going back and trying again, and sure enough, the browser version of the game didn't work, but when I got to the screen about it not working, it turned out that they had released some kind of alternate way to play in an application. I downloaded the application and I could play the game with my old Java. It would be awesome if Mojang could do something similar to this.
I paid $26.00 for the game in the first place, and I got an optifine cape and I donated $20.00 to a server I really liked once, so I've spent $46.00 on the game (the optifine cape was a birthday gift, which is now useless).
I'm very disappointed about this and if I'm just rambling for no reason because there isn't anything to do about it, then I'll have to pay for a new computer which will be quite a cost, but I suppose there are benefits greater than Minecraft in getting a new computer. And please, if you're having the same problem, I'd very much appreciate you showing your support for this topic by either 1+'ing the post, commenting, or both.
This issue has been stickied for months at the top of the help forum. Don't complain here, it's not Mojang's fault Apple dropped all support of PowerPCs. And no, there is no way around this besides a new computer. You are stuck on 1.5.2.
