My friend is having a strange issue ever since he tried playing any version of the game with the new launcher - He says he's having fps lag spikes and block lag sometimes. Back on the old launcher, he got 20~30 fps, but now he gets weird spikes. Right before creating a new world, he starts with 40~50 fps, but as more chunks load, fps drops to 15~20 with lag spikes of 2~3 fps. Is this a known bug or it has something to do with his setup?
Erm.... Thanks, but unless Minecraft has changed graphics engines, it shouldn't be a video card issue, seeing he has never had problem running it on his integrated video card. Just reiterating: Before 1.6.1, it ran fine. After 1.6.1, it has lag spikes. The system variables are the same. What has changed is the game and the launcher.
And yes, he has the latest drivers, and he has both Java 32 and 64 bits. Still waiting for an answer, as minecraft is utterly unplayable like that.
His dxdiag is at http://pastebin.com/4vVZ7j2F.
Any help?

Please also remind him that he has an integrated graphics card so performance may not be as smooth as he thinks. Though you should install this newer driver here,
