I have Minecraft up and running, but it seems every 5 minutes or so it gets slow. If I go in and make some minor change to the video settings, it starts working again. Oddly, even if the change I make would under normal circumstances cause the program to strain harder, it still fixed the slowness temporarily.
I had originally thought to upgrading to openJDK7 as I have read this seems to fix issues, but then I read using stuff outside Debian's stable set of software can cause issues, and while I am not TERRIBLY worried about that, I just wondered if first I might ask on here if anyone knows a quick and dirty update for Debian (current stable) that will fix this problem?
FYI, after updating my OS (From Debian Squeeze to Wheezy) and installing OpenJDK 7, some improvement. At first I thought it did nothing, but as I play longer and longer it seems to sort of work itself out after a while. I still find changing video settings helps. Following all of the general advice for video settings that are lighter on your hardware is of course advised...
I am not sure if I intend to get straight java on here or not. The issue is annoying, but on the other hand I intend to get a better computer before too terribly long anyhow, and I have spent a lot of time on this.
If anyone has any more advice, let me know. Thanks!
