Today i attempted to play on a minecraft lan server with my friends. However when i tried connecting it wouldnt show up. We are all connected to the same internet. However, when i went to network preferences for wifi it showed that we were all using different ip adresses. Please help !
The different IPs probably looked something like: 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2 etc? Each device on your network is given a unique ip for internal connections, so don't worry, this is normal.
As for it not showing up, I've never had that problem.
It may help me figure out the problem if you answer these:
1. How did you start the LAN server?
2. Are you and your friends connected to the same network?
3. Have you tried directly connecting to the LAN server? (Find your device's ip address, howto follows)
How do find your device's ip address.
1. Open cmd (command prompt)
2. Type ipconfig
3. Find IPv4 Address - this is your ip.
When opening a LAN server, it usually says something like: Local game hosted on 0.0.0.0:52762
Find bold bit (port) on your server (yours may be different), and then you can use the IPv4 Address and port to connect.
Example:
IPv4:port
1.1.1.1:52762
Hopefully you understand that. Let me know how it goes, and then we can work on fixing the problem.
