I've googled for at least 3 hours every day and tried what feels like everything. I double click minecraft.exe but when I do, It gives me this error:
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.
I've tried so many things. I've tried deleting all types of java, resetting, then downloading the latest version off of the website.
I've also tried making a text file and then typing that certain code and naming the extension .bat but when I do that, a black window opens up and it sais the same thing then exits after like half of a second. (I found out what it said by opening it like 70+ times and carefully reading it.)
I've also messed around with the security settings a little but I didn't go in to deep with it because I'm using Windows XP and was following a Windows 7 tutorial.
Here are my computer specs:
System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service pack 3
Computer: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5670 @ 1.80GHz 1.79 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM
Around same specs as mine I think, I'm having the same problem (abit with the dev launcher) http://www.minecraft...ots-wont-start/
The linux version allowed me to open it, but I still got the error. It was also suggested I change the ram it would get, have you tried that?
Try going DOWN to java 6, or maybe try the .jar launcher available of the website. Another thing: Did you uninstall java 5 and 6 when installing java 7? Have you added jre7/bin to your PATH variable? please try them.
P.S for the bat file, in the text editor add "pause" (without quotes) on a new line at the end. SALVATION!
