Help - I have a brand new macbook air and every time my kids start playing, it freezes the entire system after a minute or two. I have downloaded the newest Java. I have tried the newest versions being developed and NOTHING helps. I spoke to the Apple support folks and they say it is not a hardware issue, and is a software issue that many people are having. I am a mom who has limited computer knowledge. Anybody have an idea of how to fix or work around this issue? Thanks so much!
I don't have a Mac, so I really don't know much about them. Does the game work for a few minutes and then quit? If so, feel the bottom of the computer and see if it is hot after a few minutes of gaming. Macbook Air's don't have a proper cooling system for gaming, and it may be shutting down the system when it heats up.
The Mac guys say that it should have no problem with heating, etc. And it is not hot at all on the bottom. My daughter plays right next to her friends with an older air book, and and older macbook pro. My 13 year old iMac plays Minecraft just fine - so weird - but thanks for the advice - I will try the power saver mode and see what happens.

Retired StaffIf it crashes sooner with Max FPS, then it's probably the overheating issue that Chad is talking about.
