FIrst off I have a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ670N with 2gb of ram, java 64 bit, windows 7 ult. Recently Minecraft has been horrible. I keep getting out of memory issues, and it is the first time that it has happened. When I pressed F3 it the used memory is usually like 20% and allocated memory is 50%. When I open my task manager in the processes tab, it is using a whopping 1.1 million memory. The bars on the physical memory and cpu usage are topped off. IDK WHY. Can somebody please help me. My fps has dropped from a smooth 60 to a stuttery 10-30. I swear a month ago I was playing without any problems. Vanilla Minecraft with Optifine

2GB of RAM shouldn't be getting good performance in any situation, to be honest. The computer I sometimes play on has 2.5GB and can't go over 15. I'm surprised that much RAM could do so well in the first place.

2GB of ram is okay! You don't need a overpowered minecraft! It's just a block game! It might make mods and stuff run faster but generally 2GB of ram is okay for the average minecraft player. If your going to fill up with mods and or use ftb/tekkit I recommend more ram

Just a little fyi, RAM doesn't do anything to the performance in terms of FPS at all.

2GB isn't optimum for 64-bit operating systems.

In any case, try updating your graphics drivers,

Please also make sure you only have Java 7 update 21, 64-bit installed, and no other versions of Java are present.

Welllllll the thing about my drivers.... hehe.... They are modified drivers. When I updated to windows 7 ultimate.... it was not compatible with my graphics card so I had to get a modded driver.
