This isn't exactly a problem per se, but it is an issue. I have always had some small issues with my FPS, but none that are unbearable. The thing is, I really shouldn't have FPS issues, since at times I can have 180 FPS. The correlation that I've seen is that my FPS seems to equalize to my Chunk Updates, or to about 30-45 FPS when chunk updates are below that point. However, reloading the chunks (by F3+A or changing the render distance), my Chunk Updates will go up to about 180 and slowly decrease. This allows my FPS to equalize, as mentioned earlier. So for now, I've got a macro key setup so that I can reload the chunks and get my FPS back up. This really only lasts for about 5 minutes though :/ I wonder, why is it that it does this. Is it a problem with Minecraft Vanilla code? Is it a problem with my machine? Speaking of my machine, I have a AMD FX-6100 (6 core, 3.8GHz processor), 8GB of 2006MHz RAM, and the low point of my system is a GeForce GT520 1GB. Minecraft (at the current) is the current snapshot 13w24b running from a OS-and-Application dedicated SSD. Note that the version makes no difference; this will happen in all versions.

For those suggestions mentioning Optifine; it's something that I have tried in the past. I've messed with the settings in all the ways that I could think of, suggestions I've seen posted here and elsewise, both with little prevailing benefit. Perhaps with the information in the post there are some options that could be suggested to permanently increase FPS.

Yeah sure. Here's the DirectX Diagnostic. Here's a few pieces of information that might not be overly apparent. Dual Monitor setup, with MC normally running maximized on the 1360x768 Toshiba.

Yeah, I know my GFXCard is not the best. It's the next upgrade after a proper case.

Using a hack setup; I have an ATX board that I didn't realize at the time that I only had a micro-ATX case available. I had an old 386 ATX case, so I put the board in that, but the expansion slots required specific hardware, which was long gone. So all my expansion stuff is in the micro-ATX case sitting right beside it. So, Wishlist: 1. Case, 2. GFXCard. To Achieve Wishlist: 1.Money

Nothing specific I can tell about the NVidia Settings; javaw.exe's 3D settings are all NVidea defaults. Nothing else is related to applications. VSync is off, but that's one of the things I've tried without any help. Then again, that was a while ago; I'll try again and reply or edit with the results soon.

Oh, and you're right, I did have it up to 3.8 but I reverted back to default-OC and I forgot.

Yeah, VSync-ing is kinda worse, since it's capped at my refresh rate (60Hz), but will still drop below. Lowest I have seen it while running is 35, just as normal. Re-loading chunks still raises it to the max (which is now 60) which it slowly lowers. Worth a shot, I guess.

While you were absolutely correct in my out-of-date nVidia drivers, it was not the culprit. Problem still occurs, and now on to 12w25a.

For those suggestions mentioning Optifine; it's something that I have tried in the past. I've messed with the settings in all the ways that I could think of, suggestions I've seen posted here and elsewise, both with little prevailing benefit. Perhaps with the information in the post there are some options that could be suggested to permanently increase FPS.
