So over the past couple of months I have not been able to play Minecraft from the desktop client. I could never figure out why, but I think I know now. Port 80 is being blocked from my computer, and I think that's why is blocking my Minecraft client from signing me in. I have made sure my log-in information is correctly typed in. I get the error message "Can't connect to Minecraft.net" when I try to log-in.
So, I went onto my router and opened up every port for my internet connection. I wanted to test it so before I opened them I tested 25565, and then opened them all, and tested it again and 25565 was now open. Yet, port 80 was still closed. I went into the Windows Firewall and added a rule to open port 80, and even tried to completely disable windows firewall, but yet it still did not work. I have ESET Anti-Virus, so if anyone knows if that is blocking it that would be a huge help.
Basically, Port 80 is blocked and I cannot do anything to get it open. Can anyone help with this problem?
ESET Security has a feature that interferes with minecraft's ability to connect to minecraft.net. First, open the advanced setup and follow this diagram:http://kb.eset.com/l...3076FIG1-3C.png
Then, try to login to minecraft. ESET will open a window asking what to do, press EXCLUDE.
You can also choose the "do not scan ssl protocol" option.
Just a fyi, port 80 is the default port for incoming and outgoing connections, so I do not think that is the issue. If it were blocked you won't be able to connect to the internet at all, at least for things that are on port 80, which the majority of are.

I love you more than life itself... I can't believe that was my issue this entire time... A 30 second fix. Thank you so much! I could not find anything on this.
