I am running Minecraft on a Dell Dimension 2400 (old computer), and whenever I login I get a black screen after the updating Minecraft screen. I am well aware that the graphics card might not be good enough, but I would expect a crash instead of this. The computer is running Windows XP.

Was there a hs_err_pid.txt file generated where the launcher is?
Please also show us your DxDiag log.
