I have been playing Minecraft ever since it first came out. Due to school, I have taken a break from it for two years. I fell into a lava pit, and I rapidly clicked the screen in frustration. I accidently hit the respawn button instead of the back to menu button. All of my items are gone, including my house and all of the building I did. Is there andy way to get everything back? Please explain in detail.
Even if you hit the back to menu button, whenever you login to that world, you will be greeted with the "You have died" screen. And no, there is not. Your house should not have "disappeared" though, as that has nothing to do with your death.
I'm assuming you just took off from your original spawn point when you created the world and looked around until you found a spot you thought looked good to settle down and build a home at. Your home is likely still there, you just don't know your way from your original spawn point to it. If you think that could be the case then just get a program that can map your entire explored world and then look around on the map to see if you can spot your house or anything you recognize.
If you're on Windows 7 you could navigate to the saves folder in the minecraft install and then right click that specific worlds folder and in the properties under the previous versions tab tell it to revert to a date before you last played.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
