Powered rails not working!

I know I'm using them correctly, but when my rails are powered all they do is light up an will not affect the minecart. Is this a known bug?

The Minecart needs to be moving or there needs to be a block at the end of the rail (and the Minecart needs to be on that end of the rail).

I'm currently experiencing the same problem, and I've done all of these things. Still no dice.

Any mods installed? What version of minecraft are you running? And you're sure the rails are powered? Can you post a screenshot?

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
