I am new so please be patient!! I have a 2009 MacBook Pro using Snow Leopoard. I have just bought the minecraft download. I have downloaded it and unzipped it. I cannot open it. The little minecraft icon apperars on my desktop but cant open it. Any suggestions please??

All thats in the minecraft folder is the minecraft icon, the dirt/grass block. I double click it to open it and nothing happens. I may have to try and download it to our windows computer instead of the Macbook.
