i had not played MC in a while and it went through several updates since. i am running the newest version now just so thats out of the way. anyway, i log in and want to build an enchantment table and bookshelves so i go looking for mats. i discovered the book recipe now needs leather which i have precious little of so i went out exploring looking for cows. problem is i cant find ANY animals on existing chunks. i went several kilometers away until i reached newly generated chunks and eventually did find animals but it bothers me that they wont spawn near any of my already explored aresas. this save was created on the original halloween update but was properly converted and works fine otherwise. i was hoping someone could shed light on why no animals spawn in my explored areas where all my important places are. in previous versions animals were all over but now i cant find a single one.

You know what? This is not going to be a problem. I just researched how to enable cheats on my SSP save so I'll just /give myself the items I need. I didn't want to have to do this but since the developers decided to do something which I feel is grossly unnecessary and makes the game more annoying rather than accommodating, I will resort to whatever means I need to in order to circumvent this frankly crappy game change.

Next time when you start leave at least 4 of each type of animals so you can breed them.
