When I generate a superflat world (ssp 1.5.2) using a default preset everything works fine. But when I generate a not-so-deep world with mineshafts (floating for the most part) I get consistent lag spikes when the game loads any part of a mineshaft for the first time.
A good preset to use is the Classic Flat with villages removed and mineshafts added
2;7,2x3,2;1;mineshaft
I have tried it with and without optifine - no difference. When a chunk that includes part of a mineshaft gets loaded for the first time, the game hiccups (approx 3 - 14 seconds). And this is 1.5.2 which has been running by many people everywhere and regular underground mineshafts in regular worlds is *not* reported to cause this behaviour, so I figure the problem is caused by the mineshaft being above ground but I don't know why.
Has anyone else experienced performance problems related to aboveground mineshafts in superflat?
