I'm having some difficulty with my Minecraft graphics, as a lot of areas (particularly under masses of blocks such as caves or mountainsides) displaying an unusual density of shadow that disappears and fixes itself when you go right up to it. I don't know how to fix this problem, as it presents itself almost everywhere.
I am using OptiFine Ultra D3, however, I am posting it in the unmodified section because I don't believe (as far as I know) that it is related to the mod.
Here are some screenshots of the issue.

Here are my specs:
Operating System / Windows 7 Ultimate Graphics Card / ATI Radeon HD 7950 CPU / Intel Core i7 3770K RAM / 8GB DDR3 Driver Ver. / Catalyst 13.1
I am using Minecraft 1.5.2 - Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Known issue, problem within Minecraft's lighting engine itself. Not something the user can fix. You can get rid of the black spots by breaking the blocks within it.

I've seen these from time to time. But is it normal for it to be this frequent? Literally every nook and cranny within my game has these ugly dense shadows, it's not just something that happens from time to time. It's also not exactly... game breaking, but I've played Minecraft for years now, and I've never seen them this frequent.
Edit: This is the other side of the mountain above. It's like this everywhere in my game.

It typically happens under huge ledges, and frequency is random. You've just been incredibly lucky, or unlucky, to see more of them.
Is there really nothing we can do about it? I mean, for me this is a huge problem because I want the game to look good and smooth. This pretty much destroys my Minecraft experience. How come there is no fix for this after several years?
Again, like I said it has something to do with the lighting engine itself, which Mojang has attempted to fix in previous snapshots. It did fix them, but in return made for massive fluctuations in fps, and even performance degradation. Unless you can sort through Minecraft's mess of a code(it isn't the most efficient code ever), and re-implement a new lighting engine, it's here to stay unless they fix it.
