Hello fellow Minecrafters, I have a problem that some of you may be able to solve. My computer is the most basic Alienware M14x R2 you can get (this means the default selections on the Alienware website is the computer I have). In the first three months of having it I got a hard drive replacement. Now, again after three months I haven't gotten another hard drive replacement, however, I did download a game and then all of a sudden my Minecraft started getting random lag spikes where I drop from about 60 fps to 1 fps for 1-30 seconds, but this isn't the only time it happens. It happens on all of my games. I tried changing my render distance, but that did not help, and I usually run 150 fps on max settings. I know this isn't completely Minecraft related, but this Community is one of the best out there. I hope you can help me with my problem. Thx
Everything people above me have said and my own personal tip:
Start your task manager, click on the processes tab, then end all the processes that you know do certain stuff. DO NOT CLOSE ANY PROCESSES YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT!!! You can break many computer processes. Minecraft runs on the process "java.exe" or "javaw.exe". Don't close that process. You're going to want to close processes using the highest CPU percentage and highest RAM usage.
Hope this helps!
So I tried deleting some programs from task manager which didn't help. And the game I installed was Garry's Mod, but I deleted it and I still lag. Other games I have that lag include Kerbal Space Program and Planetside 2. I don't feel Optifine would help because it happens on other games too. Finally, I have no clue what you mean when you say put up you DxDiag. Thx for the help.
Optifine and Game Booster would help but Game Booster can ruin your computer.
