I'm running Minecraft on a slower laptop and have to reduce all the video settings so that it will run smooth.
I was changing some video settings and was moving the mouse to close out the screen when I inadvertently clicked something.
Whatever I clicked whited out my Minecraft window and locked up my computer. I had to start the Task Manager and manually kill everything.
I've restarted my computer. I've deleted and redownloaded the Minecraft program. I've repeated this with restarts before and after download.
It is as if I've changed some video setting and I can't get in to change it back.
Is there a way to restore defaults?
Thanks.
Try deleting options.txt and optionsof.txt in .minecraft

Took a while to find .minecraft. It's a hidden file, on my computer anyway.
