I just purchased Minecraft about 30 mins ago and the install seemed to go just fine. However, I loaded the game up and noticed I was not hearing anything. No walking sounds, no feet stomping on the grass, no doors opening, no menu sounds, etc. But strangely enough, I heard blocks being removed when I dug, and I heard the sounds of them being placed.
But before I continue, I must first bear my shame. I had a pirated copy of Minecraft. An older version. V1.3 I believe. I always had intentions of purchasing Minecraft when funds allowed. Now that they allow, I finally have it legally. I DID delete the entire .minecraft folder PRIOR to purchasing AND running the legit Minecraft program for the first time. Older files are not an issue.
Now, seeing as I have played Minecraft before, I know where the sounds are located. I know how many sounds there are, how they are stored, etc. If it is easier for me to grab the old sound files I had from when I... "tried" Minecraft, then I will do so. However, I'm trying to completely veer away from the old files because I know with the release of v1.4, new sounds were introduced. The old sounds won't work. Most of them anyways. My problem is that I'm barely hearing any sounds at all (to any of you trolls out there, yes I have my game sounds turned up lol). The audio level itself is not a problem. As I stated above, I'm able to hear a very select number of sounds and I hear them just fine. It's others that I cannot hear, because the files do not exist.
Here are the folders I currently have in "resources" and it's hierarchy:
That's it... I know there should be mob, misc, transport, etc, but as I currently stand, I have less than half of all the sounds in Minecraft.
On to my question, is there some way I can get ALL CURRENT sounds through the launcher or from somewhere else? I have tried having the launcher force-update the client, but after several attempts, I do not have any new sounds. If there is a place I can go to download the resources folder that contains every sound file that Minecraft has, I would appreciate a link to it so I can get to playing. Or is there something I'm not doing correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
