Even if you aren't you might try updating your LWJGL (light weight java gaming library) files that minecraft uses for graphics, sound and control inputs...thread has an auto-installer as well as instructions on doing it manually...
You could try to turn your sound in-game all the way down, then put it back up. Don't worry you are not the only one who is experiencing problems with sounds.

1. saves folder
2. stats folder
3. texture packs folder
4. servers file
5. lastlogin file

Thanks you so much, i have no idea how my volume for my Minecraft went down like that, i never messed with the sound settings like that.
