I used to use an Ethernet cable for my internet, but when I move my computer i used a wireless adapter. (N600)
Now LAN does not work and I can't detect or host LAN servers. My Internet works just fine.
My bros computer has the same adapter but LAN works for him.
This seems to happen with me also (on my laptop). I just downloaded the minecraft vanilla server and used that. Done and done.
(I could even give you help on setting up a server, it really isn't as hard as you think it is!)
I would, but my computer is so freakishy slow it nearly handles minecraft on tiny alone. thank you though i just figured out i have the same problem with call of duty. it doesnt open.
Another possibility is that your WiFi could be configured to only give WiFi clients access to the internet. Can you access anything else on your home network when you are using WiFi? Wireless things only or both Wireless and wired?
