Client download error?

I have downloaded minecraft to my computer, but when i try to open it it says:
"The registry refers to a nonexistant Java Runtime Enviornment installation or the runtime is corrupt"
I cant figure out what to do. Any help?

You probably need to uninstall and reinstall Java.
