I used up 9 splash potions of harming on a large set of enclosed skeletons, and none of them did any sort of damage. the skeletons had been dropped to have roughly 1 heart of health, so it's not that they took damage and didn't die. I tried several angles, including point blank and from above, and I always made sure that it was hitting the skeletons, not a block near them.
Is there any known bug involving this?

ohh... I wonder why I never knew that.
Now I actually have to find melons... 3 abandoned mineshafts and no melon seeds >.<
