Any answer as to why the world me and my boy has worked on for months, is a brand new world now? We've created so much, marked many areas, created a very long railway from home base to an npc town, and whole lot more. Please help with any answers.
Nothing that I know of. I asked my son as well. he plays it more and just hasn't played it for the weekend and came back, and was gone, no rhyme or reason that we can think of. interesting thing is the other worlds he created, like a creative mode one hasn't reset.
Honestly I wish I did back this world up, but never have I thought it would be re-created. I didn't put the coordinates to it, but I did make another compass, hoping that it would bring me back to my origination point, which is near where I built most of my stuff. Sadly it led me to a middle of a forest a few days ago. Now it leads me to a middle of an ice world area which is where my son is building new stuff. Not sure why it did that though. I was hoping it just spawned us somewhere else in the world and we just need to find the stuff. But I have a feeling it's a completely new world, as we did a lot of exploring, and used torches to make a path, in many different directions when we hunted for new animals, materials, and others. It just burns me out wanting to recreate anything else new when all my work just goes away.
I've also asked my son if anything happened when he started the game on the new world, he mentioned it said something about building terrain. Don't know what to think about that. Only thing I did special on the original world, many weeks ago, we used the mod minions to help get materials. it never reset the world since we had it installed so I don't think that's the reason of the cause.
BTW where is the files that you save to back up the world, so I can back up some of his other worlds?
I've been having a similar issue, although the entire world I've created hasn't been deleted, enormous portions of it have. For instance there is now a 20x20x120 block section removed from my house that I've spent the last 2 years working on. This has happened in one other known location in the same world. I want to know If there is anyway I could reload to a previous save prior to the large chunk of my house being deleted. I should mention that the other large hole was a 30x30x250 block area that lead to the void and entering it caused almost instant death, mainly by drowning even though there is no visible water.
Hmm, did you happen to update your Minecraft client? Also "Building Terrain" just means that its loading up your file for you to play.
Ah, also thought of something, trying to look for your buildings will take far too long, as you may have spawned on the other corner of the world. Try using a mapping software such as Tectonicus [link] to help you find your stuff, and make sure that that's actually the world but with a corrupted player.dat.
Easiest way to get to Minecraft saves
1) Go to Texture packs in the minecraft client, then click "open texturepack folder"
2) Go up one level
3) Go to the "Saves" folder
Other stuff
Other way to get to .minecraft-
1) Select Run from the Start Menu, press the Windows button and "R", or start Task Manager and go to Files > New Task (Run..)
2) Paste this in there:
[font=Consolas, Menlo, Monaco, 'Lucida Console', 'Liberation Mono', 'DejaVu Sans Mono', 'Bitstream Vera Sans Mono', 'Courier New', monospace, serif][background=rgb(238, 238, 238)]%appdata%\.minecraft\[/background][/font]
3) Go to
The directory for your save files on vista is
C:\Users\[YOURNAMEHERE]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
I looked in the texturepack under .minecraft and the folder was empty. Fortunately my world hasn't been overwritten, however I have huge portions of missing texture bits - sections of my map which includes parts of my house completely removed or replaced as if someone took a huge slice out of it. Could my saves have been corrupted?

Can you post a screenshot of it please? It does sound like it has been corrupted but I can't really make sure with words.. There is a fix to a corrupted world however
And the texture pack thing was just for you to know where your Saves folder was so you could back up your saves next time lol
I downloaded the Tectonicus files to my desktop and was going to use the most basic config file in that folder: simpleConfig
I edited that file and changed the only 2 things that needed to be changed: worldDir (I changed it to where I found mine C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves\LUKE world) and outputDir (C:\Minecraft Maps\LUKE world Map)
I then went to run Tectonicus from the cmd line:
java -Xms2048M -Xmx2048M -jar Tectonicus_v2.16.jar config=C:\Users\John\Desktop\Tectonicus_v2.15\simpleConfig.xml
but I got an error after it:
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
so I tried the other option that was listed, the .bat file, in the file I had this:
@ECHO OFF
SET BINDIR=%~dp0
CD /D "%BINDIR%"
"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1G -jar Tectonicus.jar config=C:\Users\John\Desktop\Tectonicus_v2.15\simpleConfig.xml
PAUSE
but when I run it, It says the system cannot find the path specified. press any key to continue.

Try updating your java.

Your World Is Corrupted. Are You Using Backup Manager?
No as was this same question asked earlier in this thread, I wish I did back the world up. Still hoping the world imp in is the same, I'm just in another part. Could really use some help on getting a map of my world. even if it's another add-on.
- Accidentally the world got Re-created
-The spawnpoint and player data was corrupted
If you've noted down any coordinates of your stuff, you should try going there.

here's the files I got, just copied the folder from
C:\Users\[YOURNAMEHERE]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
if that's incorrect to get the map, let me know where to find it.
