Hey guys! I am running two 660 Ti in SLI and whenever I use minecraft, the temp of the first GPU goes up to about 55 degrees celcius with the fan at 70%
I have Java 64-bit and I am trying to even out the load so it doesn't get as hot and sound like an airplane --- or even switch it to the second GPU, which is an ASUS (as opposed to EVGA) and so has better cooling.
Anyone got some tips?
I tried setting the settings to use NVIDIA recommended in the control panel.
Won't work with my bukkit server either, which I use a run.bat for. I know it's the wrong section, but does anyone have experience with that?
I have 16GB ram and have 4 or 5 allocated to Java/Minecraft in total
I also have two 120mm front intake fans, with one 120mm fan directly behind that in front of the GPUs, one 120mm outtake fan, two 140mm out fans at the top, and one 250mm intake fan on the side... I'm very well ventilated.
But my question is about SLI, not as much heat. I'm hoping SLI will resolve the heat problem.

4-5 GB RAM for the Minecraft client?! The client doesn't need more than 1 GB RAM to run vanilla, according to my knowledge based on what others have said before... I'm not sure that's necessarily your problem but I'm just pointing it out - it's completely unnecessary!

Yeah, only allocate more RAM for big maps that need to render and process alot of redstone devices, alot of animals/mobs(eg. a mob farm) ,etc

Minecraft does not use/support SLi. Well OpenGL do support SLi... When you run minecraft only one of your GPUs will do the job. The temperature goes up when the GPU load is higher. Example: 10% GPU Load = 20 Degrees, and 70% GPU Load = 50 Degrees. If you want to force minecraft to use SLi go into nVidia control panel and click on Manage 3D Settings, then set SLI rendering mode to "Force Alternate frame rendering 2"
