I had a problem with my computer and had to use a system restore to fix it. After that, I was having problems connecting to servers and I decided to delete my .minecraft folder. When I was updating the files, it stopped after about 3 or 4 seconds and the message: Failed to Launch Fatal error occurred (4): null. appeared on the screen. I thought it was just an error, so I tried again. Same thing. Again, same thing. Again, same thing. I've checked my firewall, antivirus, and I've tried deleting and reinstalling java, but I get the same message: Failed to Launch Fatal error occurred (4): null. I'm out of ideas and have no idea what to do, please help!
My computer is a HP envy m6 laptop with 32 bit windows 8.
Fatal error (4): null usually occurs when a security software, even when deactivated, is interfering with the client's ability to connect to the login servers. What antivirus do you have installed?
I have K9 installed. However, I have figured out and fixed the problem. K9 was interfering with s3.amazonaws.com. I put it on the "always allow" list and it worked. Thank you for your help, though!
