Holy Horses and Mobs

I had a quick question. I just recently purchased minecraft for my MAC. I downloaded the new launcher to be able to work in the newest snapshots.

They load up fine, but when I spawn in and get to plains areas I literally have dozens of horses spawned around me. See attached picture.

As well as when it is night, the are clusters of Mobs. 5 to 6 in each cluster. That might be normal but I know the horses are not.

For some reason i can't attach a picture but thanks for responding!

What am I doing wrong?

You are doing nothing wrong. Horses will spawn in Plains. Recently in snapshot 13w19a, they made mobs spawn in groups again.

So far nothing seems wrong. You are getting everything they say you are getting, on the Mojang.com website.
