Hello everyone.
About 2 months ago, I decided to build a PC. The day after it was finished, I decided to play Minecraft. It ran really well too. It ran at 200-300 FPS on max settings.
However, after about a week of playing, the FPS suddenly dropped to 20-25 FPS, and it would not move at all!
I tried everything I could. I installed optifine, and put everything to the lowest settings. Nothing changed. The lowest settings and highest settings gave me the exact same FPS. Vertical sync was off on both my GPU and Minecraft.
I did notice something strange. When I played Minecraft for the first week, the usage was at 90+%. Now, when I play Minecraft, it is only at 11% max (2% most of the time)(I'm getting 15% usage on Google Chrome right now.) I don't think it is running off of integrated graphics because I have them disabled.
Here are all the detailed stats
First Week_________________________________After 200+FPS__________________________________20FPS 98% Power________________________________36% Power 64 degrees C_______________________________42 degress C 96% GPU Usage_____________________________6% GPU Usage 41% Fan Speed_____________________________45% Fan Speed 1590 Fan Techometer________________________1770 Fan Techometer 1124 Core Clock____________________________784 Core Clock 3005 Memory Clock__________________________3005 Memory Clock 445 MB Usage______________________________361 MB Usage The reason the fan speed went up is becuase I had EVGA Precision X open at the time of recording the After effects and it has automated fan speed.
On my old computer, with the same cpu, I would get 30 FPS on max settings with no GPU (I had no GPU at the time). On the lowest settings, it bumps up to 70 FPS. But on here, it is always the same.
I have the latest Java version (7 update 40). I also tried using 314.22 drivers and 320.14 drivers for my PC (both in which I performed clean installs.) Nothing budged. Right now, I am on 320.14 Beta drivers for Nvidia.
PC Specification: Motherboard = MSI Z77A-G45 CPU = i7 3770s @ 3.1 GHz and 3.9 GHz Max Turbo Frequency Ram = 16 GB Ballistix Ram GPU = EVGA 660Ti SC PSU = Corsair TX 750 W Storage = M4 Crucial 128 GB SSD (Windows is running off of this)
1TB Hitachi OS = Windows 8 OS
I also run 3 monitors but I don't think that is a problem because I have tested with one monitor and it didn't change anything.
Please, if someone could help solve my situation, that would be great!
