Consider me stumped. Posting was my last resort, since I'm not usually one to search out help on something I figured I should be able to fix.
Windows had an update not too long ago. I've had the game for weeks before that, and it was running perfectly. After the update was complete and I tried to play the game, it crashed my entire computer 5 minutes after I logged on. I thought it was just an overload crash, so I turned the computer back on, loaded it up again, and like clockwork 5 minutes in; forced reboot.
So, I uninstalled the updates manually, tried it again. Reboot. I performed a system restore; reboot. I uninstalled and reinstalled both Minecraft AND Java; reboot.
Eventually I gave up and completely uninstalled Java.
It's not the computer's fan, because the fan's working perfectly fine. (Plus I figure it would have overheated long ago were that the problem.)
The entire game was alright literally the night before the updates, and even after the updates have been taken off (and a system restore), the game refuses to work past 5 minutes in. Sometimes it doesn't even last that long.
Is there anything this could be? My friends had the updates too, and theirs is fine. One of them had some Java trouble after, but nothing of this degree. I can't even get a crash report because it's not Minecraft itself crashing. I've gone into the Event Viewer and there were no out of date drivers to be found, there was nothing to really do there. It just inexplicably crashes.

Any ideas?
