I just downloaded Minecraft.exe, first it wouldn't run at all with windows 8 then managed to open it only to be greeted by an error message stating that:
"The registry refers t a nonexistent Java runtime environment installation or the runtime is corrupted.
The system cannot find the path specified"
So I found a post relating to that, tried that solution, it didn't work, I have no idea what to do.
You either have a corrupted Java install or that you have too many multiple ones installed. Please completely remove all versions of Java present on the via "Control Panel > Uninstall a program".
Then, grab the latest version of Java here. Remember to grab the 64-bit version if you have a 64-bit machine, and vice versa if you have a 32-bit machine. http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
