I have a mac and when i log in to the launcher it says there is a new update available(which there isn't) and when i click install it gets to about 15% and gives me the message
/User/Myrongranlie/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar
i have tried to fix this by reinstalling the launcher and it doesn't work. could someone please help me?
I have had this problem too, all you need to do is force update. Usually this occurs when trying to install a mod, and messing something up. Hope i could help.

I have been doing that, and reinstalling it for, well since I posted this, I finally figured out how to make it work for me. All I did was install tekkit and now it works perfect.
