Hi guys, i'm having a problem here. When I login to the Minecraft server, it keeps on saying can't connect to minecraft. I can play on the browser but i want to play on the client. I tried pretty much everything including updating java, deleting minecraft files and downloading them again, turning off my firewall and antivirus, and using a different client. Please help. I really want to play on the client. Thank you.
What antivirus program are you using? I assume you are on Windows? Can we take a look at your hosts file?
You may have a problem with your hosts file, which overrides DNS queries. Please follow the following directions:
Hold down the Windows key, and press R. In the window that appears, enter "%SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc", and press Enter. In the window that appears you will see a file, "hosts". Open that file in Notepad, and copy the contents onto Pastebin, and give us the resulting URL.
ESET Security has a feature that interferes with minecraft's ability to connect to minecraft.net. First, open the advanced setup and follow this diagram: http://kb.eset.com/l...3076FIG1-3C.png
Then, try to login to minecraft. ESET will open a window asking what to do, press EXCLUDE.
