I have noticed on two different computers that on version 1.5.2 of the client, I cannot see ram usage anywhere.

I start the client with

C:\<path to 64 bit javaw> -Xmx4096M -Xms4096M -jar <path to minecraft.exe>

but I don't see memory usage anywhere in the client, and task manager only shows ~1.5GB in use by javaw.exe

What's up with that? How can I see whether the java vm is actually being created with the correct ram?
There's a howto post on the forum here which shows a screen snip showing usage, but I don't see anything like that.
