Most of time I can figure these things out but this one has me stumped. Here is my setup..
Minecraft 1.5.2 (No Mods or Text Packs)
Java 7 on all 3 PC's
Linksys WTR54G Router
Problem: One of the PC that host can't be connected to.
I have 3 PC with the following IP's
192.168.1.100 <---Windows 7
192.168.1.102 <--- Wndows Vista (lap top)
192.168.1.103 <--- Windows Vista desktop (PROBLEM PC)
If either Windows 7 or the Vista laptop host the game all can connect. If the Windows desktop hosts (.103) no one can connect even when connecting via direct link. I've tried the following
1. Disable All firewalls and made exceptions in windows for Minecraft an Java
2. Disabled the router security settings.
3. Disabled/Removed Antivirus protections
4. Switched network settings to allow all the PC's to see the Vista Desktop
5. Reinstalled Minecraft
6. Checked that Javaw.exe was listening (Netstat -ab command) IT was
7 Reinstalled Java 7 and tried 6 also.
8. Copied the save game from problem PC over to others
9. Made exceptions for Minecraft's port in both Router and firewalls.
So for whatever reason while all 3 PC's can connect to a LAN game that one PC (Windows Vista Desktop on 192.168.1.103) can't host because the others can't see it. The world shows up but the IP is greyed out and when the other PC's try to connect it gives the Java exception error and the other a timeout error. Seams it must be network related but can't understand why it can connect to other hosted games but can't host itself.

Hmm have you tried allowing port 4445 on the problem computer?
According to this section: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/LAN#Local_area_network
A published(open) lan game sends a udp multicast signal along that port every 1.5 seconds. in theory it might be allowing in but not out signals(hence why it can connect but can't host)

Thanks nightarix I didn't know that but will give it a try and report back my progress.
*Update*
Opened that port (4445) on both the PC and router but still has no effect. Both PC's still can't see the game hosted on the Vista Desktop but the Vista desktop CAN see/connect to any game hosted on the other two PC's.
I am having a LAN issue too. I have connected my computers with a Ethernet cable. I can get the computers to recognize the LAN games, but when I try to join the game, I get a "Connection Timed Out" pop up.

Any ideas on what to try next?
