So I'm trying to set up a littler server for me and a couple of mates, most things are sorted except I can't seem to add more RAM to it.

I've created a batch file as of a few guides online (not super tech savy)

that goes like this


java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar "C:\Users\Andrew\Desktop\MC server\Minecraft.exe"
pause

when I run the batch file it just opens the minecraft.exe and doesn't affect the RAM

so obviously I'm doing something wrong. If I take out the path file for minecraft.exe it also doesnt work.

any help would be pretty awesome


pc specs:

6 gb ddr3 RAM
i7 260k 64 bit

java 1.7.0 64 bit

You'll want to grab the JAR file instead, and use the following batch file (make sure they're in the same directory):

java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M minecraft_server.jar nogui
pause

The guy above me is right,you'll need the Jar. If that doesn't work are you sure you have enough free ram?
