Hi! First time poster here. Forgive me if I do anything wrong.

My laptop has always had a hard time running Minecraft. It's a pretty dated piece of technology, but I still have high hopes that there's something, anything, I could do to make Minecraft run smoother. I'll have my FPS anywhere from 15 to 3, with seemingly no pattern to its choppiness. It happens at random. Here are my specs:

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite L500
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
Memory: 4GB RAM
Graphics: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family

I'm running on Vista (save me), I have the latest versions of Java and Minecraft, I've updated all my drivers recently, and I've tried allocating more/less RAM to Minecraft (with little to no difference). Changing the graphic settings in-game seem to make no difference. The FPS changes between far render distance and tiny are insignificant if present at all. I've also tried downloading FPS-boosting mods for Minecraft to no avail. Is there anything that can be done?

P.S. I doubt this is relevant, but when I look straight up in-game, my FPS skyrockets to 30.

Please post your DxDiag log for us to look at your full system specs and the drivers you have installed.

I should say that performance on integrated graphics cards are very poor, you cannot expect much from them.

Alrighty so you already have the latest drivers. There's not much we can do now, as that card, like I said is an integrated one and you cannot expect great performance from them. The reason why FPS is higher when you look up in the sky is because there is less to render.

You can take a look at this guide though, may provide more insight on how to squeeze a bit more FPS out.

Alright, thanks again! I'm pretty disappointed with the performance of my graphics card, but hey, you get what you pay for. Too bad Minecraft has deceptively high requirements.
