Noticing a bunch of these in windows 7 event viewer:
The NVIDIA OpenGL driver has encountered an out of memory error. This application might behave inconsistently and fail.
This pops up row after row in event viewer after a while of playing MINECRAFT, and I think its when you go to a new area, but I could be wrong, seems to happen more than that as well, but I'm going by what I have seen and what my son has seen.
This PC has run MINECRAFT fine for a year, and it even ran a server and the client simultaneously just fine for the longest time which the family would use the home network to all connect and play with.
Its just after some recent updates that it seems the PC starts to stutter, and almost freeze completely where you need to ALT TAB out and restart.
Then I see what the event viewer posts above.
I removed java7, went to java6, but it hasnt helped.
I removed minecraft, and reinstalled.
I tried optifine.
I uninstalled, and reinstall the latest nvida drivers.
PC is an AMD X3 @2.99 with 4GB of ram and a GTX 280 video card running 64bit win7.
Suggestions please? The game was fine, and since recent weeks the kids are having a hell of a time playing. We have 3 other machines that we use to network with but this machine seems to keep having this issue.
I'm not going to say this is a for sure thing here, but it seems that making sure the client runs on 64 bit if you have a 64 bit machine maybe the key. If its stuck on 32bit, and your on 64bit, I think that may be an issue. I'll know more after tomorrow when I let my boy play on it for a while. Ive set it to an autowalk in a new world, creative, with the toon flying through the air making chunk after chunk for about 10-15 minutes so far and it hasnt stalled on me yet.

Retired StaffMake sure you are running the 64bit version of Java.
Have to see how to start 64bit. I tried it once, but the box would pop up and close so quickly I couldn't see the error java was giving.
