Hey guys! For some reason, I am unable to create a world and then open it to LAN. I should say that I used to be able to. I had several worlds I was running and I had friends over and they were able to connect without any issue. The game would appear as a server for them and they'd never have to use Direct Connect. Then one day it stopped appearing and I had to give them numbers to use Direct Connect.
Now, though, I can't seem to host anything. The numbers I give them are my IP in the 00.00.00.00 format, followed by the number the game gives me when I open it to lan. So the number I give out so they can connect looks something along the lines of 00.00.00.00:XXXXX. (If I'm doing something wrong on this front, let me know.)
When people try to connect, it almost always says Connection TImed Out. I've tried it in the IPv4 format, which looks like 000.000.0.0 and then followed it with the XXXXX numbers. No matter the format or arrrangement, the other people who try to connect get the Connection Timed Out message.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I can do to fix this issue?
Welcome to the Forum.
Is your network configuration the same as the time it worked?
0.0.0.0 means every network it's connected to, so if you need to connect to it you'll need its IPv4 address for the network you want.
Then you add the port with the : and 4 or 5 numbers.
Please quote me when replying.
I'm not sure if the network configuration was the same as when it worked. I'm not entirely sure what that means. Also, does it make a difference how far away the person is you're trying to connect to? In the past, it's always been with people in the same house. It stopped working for the people in the house too, but it also won't connect to people that live several miles away.
