Hello everyone. Recently I was playing on Minecraft 1.5.1 and when I came back the next day I came back with the error that said:
ERROR: Could not create the Java virtual machine. A fatal exception has occurred.
I fixed that by installing Java Runtime Environment 6u43.
But now I still get the problem which says: Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Do nay of you know a fix to this? I deleted all my minecraft files and reinstalled them, I even restarted my PC a couple of times, and even reinstalled Java many times.
It still doesn't work? Do any of you know the cause to my problem? And how to fix it?
What are your full specs?
In the meantime, I suggest you try launching with the Magic Launcher.
Please quote me when replying.
System: Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.
Genuine IntelĀ® CPU
T2400 @ 1.83 GHz
1.83 GHz, 2.50 GB of RAM.
I used the Magic Launcher and it gave this crash report:
*** MagicMinecraftLauncher 1.0.0 ***
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: net.minecraft.client.Minecraft
at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)

at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at magic.launcher.Launcher.main(Unknown Source)
i'm having the same problem, only its with the new launcher, and i had the problem with the other launcher too, but i fixed it by making a batch file to launch it. here is a link to the topic i posted about it: http://bit.ly/13RGOFs
to make a batch file, create a new text document on your desktop, then copy and paste this in it:
@echo off cd C:\Minecraft java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -cp Minecraft.exe net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
(if you want to start it with a different a different amount of ram change the two numbers "-Xmx1024M -Xms1024M" to whatever you want to start it with.)
and then save in all files, and write the name you want it to be and add .bat at the end.
(if you are using the .jar launcher just change the .exe extension in the batch file to .jar)

this will not fix the new launcher though and i cant seem to figure out how to fix the new one :/

the only other possible solution i can think of is lowering the ram you start minecraft with... other than that, i've got nothing lol

Try reducing the -Xmx1024m to say -Xmx800m. If that works, then .. check if you have installed/running a freebie browser extension called BrowerProtect. If so, remove it (which may be hard as various trojans hide inside versions of this and are hard to remove). Otherwise, can't help you, sorry.

I am currently using Java 7 Update 21.
You don't have the right minecraft.jar there's one for the game and one for the launcher. They are NOT the same.
to make a batch file, create a new text document on your desktop, then copy and paste this in it:
@echo off
cd C:\Minecraft
java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -cp Minecraft.exe net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
(if you want to start it with a different a different amount of ram change the two numbers
"-Xmx1024M -Xms1024M" to whatever you want to start it with.)
and then save in all files, and write the name you want it to be and add .bat at the end.
(if you are using the .jar launcher just change the .exe extension in the batch file to .jar)
this will not fix the new launcher though
Then the normal error comes.

this error is due to you not having the batch file in the same directory as the launcher i believe, otherwise, i don't know what the problem could be.
