So originally, I get about 10 FPS when i play, 15-20 if I use optifine. Once I updated my Java, the frame rate TANKS whenever I load a world or join a server. It goes down to 0 fps, causing my minecraft to freeze and crash. Apparently, my friends have been having this problem, too. So should I downgrade my java? Or does anybody know a fix?'

Yes my computer sucks, but I WAS able to run minecraft before... and updating java ruined that.

Acer Aspire 5740
i5 core processor 2.65 GHz
4 GB RAM
Intel HD On-Board graphics (useless)

EDIT: Nevermind, downgrading didn't work.

Anybody know a reason why my minecraft would randomly stop working? I did not add new mods (or mod it at all, incidentally), change any settings or do anything that would affect minecraft.

Are you using 32-bit or 64-bit Java?
If you were using 64-bit Java before and now only have the 32-bit version, get the 64-bit version.
If you're using a 32-bit OS, try launching Minecraft with the Magic Launcher.
If the above doesn't help, try updating LWJGL.

I run on a 64 bit OS, and tried the 64 bit java, but the result is the same.

Updating. LWJGL made it work on some servers and SP, although my framerate is still worse than before.

There are still some servers it does not work on, though.
