After updating Java and downloading the newest version of Minecraft, I received this error message upon trying to run it: . (Incase the image doesn't appear, it reads "Error: Could not create Java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.") Now, in most cases I have a general idea for what's going on, but I haven't played Minecraft in quite some time and have forgotten the usual ways of looking into these sorts of issues. Is there anyone out there who could give some assistance?? Thanks for your time!
Open up command prompt by pressing the Windows key, and the R key at the same time, then key in cmd in the text box, and then press enter, a black box should appear. I would like you to type in this and press enter.
java -version
What did it print out? Is it an error?
Either way, please post the output of when you type in that. While waiting for my reply, please uninstall all versions of Java present on your machine via the control panel, or you can use JavaRa. Then reinstall Java via this site.
Well this seems unfortunate, and makes me even more frustrated... When I did as you instructed, my computer decided not to print anything and it told me this instead:
And I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but I found it interesting that Minecraft was working fine for me when I opened it up about a week ago. But then I kept getting these really annoying Java messages popping up from the last update, so I removed it. Only once I tried re-installing it did it give me any trouble with Minecraft.
Anyways, thanks for the effort you're putting into this!
