So I have a pretty low end computer for playing Minecraft. But with optifine and certain optimizations, it gets the job done. Most of the time.
One aspect of a server I play on requires me to travel through the nether often. Whenever I do so, I have 2 choices: Endure a steady low fps, with very long, grueling, and often lag spikes. Or turn off my sound completely. No sound works, but it isn't the best. No sound means I am unaware of any ghasts, pigmen, or other players plotting to kill me. This greatly hinders my speed and performance.
I have pinpointed the souce of my lag issues, it is the fire/lava sounds. Upon going into the sound folder, I have no idea how to find the fire/lava sounds and delete them.
So I ask you brilliant people, can someone show me the steps to remove fire/lava sounds from my Minecraft?
oddly enough, the sounds are
%appdata%/.minecraft/resources/newsound/liquid/lava.ogg
%appdata%/.minecraft/resources/newsound/liquid/lavapop.ogg
%appdata%/.minecraft/resources/newsound/fire/fire.ogg
But don't delete them. Minecraft will just download them again. Try modifying the permissions on the files so that they cannot be read
