I have an IBM T60 with an integrated Intel Mobile 945 graphics processor. I've been trying to get Minecraft up and running, following the advice here - such as updating drivers, trying custom drivers, installing the latest version of Java, and installing the latest Lightweight Java Game Library, using MultiMC to launch it. None of this helps in the least.
Now I KNOW people play Minecraft on my exact computer (and its clone, the Lenovo T60). Same graphics card and all. I KNOW these fixes have worked for other people - why the Hell aren't they working for me?
No matter what I do it's the same OpenGL error, again and again. There's no point in even posting it because you've seen it ten-thousand times. What is my computer doing wrong?
Please don't give me the exact advice I already said I tried. I got the EXACT drivers other people said worked for them on the exact same computer, this is not user error. This is a software problem.
Here's the report, just FYI:
Bad video card drivers!
-----------------------
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

Sometimes, having an old Intel Integrated GPU on Windows XP might cause Minecraft to not run. (Please note that computers that have old Intel Integrated GPUs usually have low performance, and purchasing a new computer will, in the long run, be better for you.)
Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot, turn Hardware acceleration to below half (or off).
Yep, I feel stupid now! That trick of turning off Direct3D (what the hardware acceleration at 1/2 bar does) is apparently the one link on this subject that I didn't click on!
I know my computer's a junker, but it was free and I don't play enough video games to justify building a new desktop yet. Minecraft, Romance of the Three Kingdoms and old Paradox games are about all I play anymore, so this one's fine for now. It's got an upgraded processor (the primary drain of grand strategy games), so it doesn't chug too much.
OptiFine and the 4x4 texture pack make it run quite well.

Thankee.
