Whenever my friend trys to mount a horse or log in on a horse they get this:

I can mount a horse just fine with no errors, but he can't. I've tried deleting both of our .minecraft, and restarting a billion times, nothing seems to be working. Also, its over a LAN server, and i can delete the the character file in the folder and the person can come back in, but whenever they try to mount a horse, it just kicks them off with the error.
Horses are a huge change to the game, and he can't even test them out, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: I just tried hosting a server on his computer, and then when I tried to mount, i got the same error. So whoever is hosting the LAN server can mount, but whoever isn't can't.
